Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS)

Starting 1 April 2026, Singapore is launching the national Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) to boost recycling rates and reduce waste. Between 1 April 2026 and 30 September 2026, our store will undergo a transition period as we clear existing inventory and roll out new deposit-marked stock across all cans.

What is BCRS and Why Was It Introduced?

The Beverage Container Return Scheme is a sustainability initiative introduced by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and BCRS Ltd. Packaging waste accounts for one-third of Singapore’s domestic waste. BCRS adopts an Extended Producer Responsibility approach to build a circular economy—encouraging consumers to return empty beverage containers so high-quality materials can be recycled rather than incinerated or sent to Semakau Landfill.

What to Expect During the Transition Period (1 Apr – 30 Sep 2026)

During this six-month grace period, you will notice two types of stock in our store:

Unmarked Stock (Current Packaging): Sold as usual. No deposit will be added at checkout, and these cans cannot be returned at return points for a refund.

Deposit-Marked Stock (New Packaging): Features the official SG Deposit Mark. A $0.10 deposit per container will automatically be added as a separate line item at checkout.

From 1 October 2026 onward, all beverage cans sold in Singapore will carry the deposit mark.
